UPCOMING EVENT: CONTINUING EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SHORT COURSE ON TACKLING COMPLEX HEALTH ISSUES USING THE ONE HEALTH APPROACH



One Health Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA) network in Tanzania organized a short course training on One Health for in-service personnel to equip them with skills for tackling complex health problems using the One Health approach for participants from districts with high frequency of interaction between animals and humans where zoonotic disease threats of epidemic potential are likely to emerge. 

 

This training was part of a series of Continuing Education and Professional Development One Health short courses organized by SUA and MUHAS. Recent training was conducted from 27 to 31 May, 2019 at Cherry Hotel, Morogoro.

 

Future courses will be announced for applicants who want to maintain their professional credentials to comply with professional regulatory requirements.

Prof. Amandus P. Muhairwa Appointed as acting Principal of CVMBS

Prof. Amandus P. Muhairwa has been appointed as acting Principal of the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (CVMBS). Previously the Principal was Prof. Donald G. Mpanduji who is currently the Deputy Vice Chancellor - Planning, Finance and administration of the University of Dodoma. Before his appointment, Prof. Muhairwa was serving in the capacity of Head of Department, Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health. All CVMBS Staff wishes Prof. Muhairwa all the best in his new responsibilities

Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Visits CVMBS

The Permanent Secretary for Livestock Sector in the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Prof. Elisante Ole Gabriel has visited the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences on 23rd April, 2019. During his visit Prof. Gabriel was able to visit Animal Referral Hospital and was highly impressed with activities done at the hospital. Read more about the visit

CVMBS ADORNS THE ONGOING SOKOINE MEMORIAL WEEK WITH EXHIBITIONS AND ACADEMIC PRESENTATIONS

Each year, SUA organizes the Sokoine Memorial Week to celebrate the life and legacy of Hon. Edward Moringe Sokoine not only due to fact that the University has been named after him, but largely because of his commitment to development of Tanzania focusing greatly to the ordinary Tanzanians.

 The Sokoine Memorial week 2019 is scheduled to take place from 9th to 12th April, 2019 at the main campus of Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro, Tanzania. The theme for this year is “Agricultural productivity and Industrialization for Tanzania’s Development: Lessons from Edward Moringe Sokoine and Prospects for the Future”.

 During this event CVMBS will showcase various technologies and solutions that will improve animal and public health sectors in Tanzania.
  On 10th and 11th April 2019 there will be parallel sessions of Scientific Conference organized in subthemes including Sustaining animal health and livestock productivity.

Dr. Modesta Makungu appointed as new Head of the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology

Dr. Modesta Makungu has been appointed as new Head of the Department of Veterinary Surgery and Theriogenology to replace Prof. Donald Mpanduji who was appointed as the College Principal and later appointed as  the Deputy Vice Chancellor - Planning, Finance and administration of the University of Dodoma. All CVMBS Staff wishes Dr.Makungu all the best in her new responsibilities
