Augustine B. Matondo is Senior Lecturer of Veterinary Pathology. He obtained a professional Veterinary training at Sokoine University of Agriculture, and hold a Master degree in Animal Pathology and PhD (Pathobiology) from University of Utrecht. Currently he serves as the Head of Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Pathology and Editor in Chief of Tanzania Veterinary Journal. He is interested in basic and applied animal health research in domestic and wild animals. Among the ongoing research includes research on non-communicable diseases using animal models, collaborative implementation research on reduction of AMR through strengthening infection prevention and control (IPC), and review of policy and regulatory framework that affect antimicrobial stewardship in animal health. In addition, he has been involved in a number of capacity building programmes in the form of professional development courses for in-service animal health workforce in collaboration with other institutions.
