Remmy J. Assey is a Professor in Anatomy at the College of Veterinary and Medical Sciences, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA).
He graduated with a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Dar es salaam in 1981. He holds a Masters degree in Veterinary Medicine specializing in Anatomy, from SUA in 1988.
He graduated with a PhD from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University, Copenhagen, Denmark in 1993. In his doctorate studies, he did light and ultrastructural evaluation of oocytes derived from superovulated and from normal cycling cattle, from dominant and from subordinate follicles.
His research interest is on reproductive biology of the vertebrates.
He now teaches Veterinary Anatomy to Veterinary undergraduate and postgraduate students; Vertebrate anatomy to BSc Wildlife undergraduates. He had for 12 years, served as a part time instructor in Mammalogy and Developmental Biology in the Open University of Tanzania.
Professor Assey has published thirty (31) papers in peer reviewed international and local journals and proceedings. He has also written two compendia for Open University of Tanzania students, 6 compendia for Veterinary Students and one compendium for BSc Wildlife students.
He has supervised a number of undergraduate special projects and Masters theses. He has also served as external examiner in the Universities of Makerere and Nairobi in undegraduate students, MSc and PhD theses.
