Incoming students from University of Messina (UniMe) to Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA)

The Programme offers the possibility for students enrolled and selected by University of Messina to participate in the Mobility Programme to spend a specified period of study/research at SUA. General Information about Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) can be found at the main website, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Science, and the Erasmus+ coordinating Department

 Odd semesters: Start 01 November and End in March, and  Even SemestersStart in 05 April and End in July

Inter-semester Field Practical: Training cover farm animals, small animal practice and wild animals (5 weeks) and start in first week of March and End in April.

PhD research in the fields of Veterinary Science covering all range of animals (terrestrial wild, farmed, and aquatic)

The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences offer PhD training in all sub-fields of Master programmes.  All programmes are offered in English and PhD students/researchers can come at any time of the year.

UniMe adopts the Italian Grading Scale from 18 (less than 18 the exam is failed) to 30. UniMe officially adopts the ECTS conversion scale

Grading system at SUA for Master/PhD by course work: Score of 60% or higher the student is considered to have passed, and less than 60% is considered to have failed.

SUA grading system for Undergraduate students: Pass score is 50% or higher. Less than 50% the student is considered to have failed the respective subject.  Additional information for Undergraduate students: https://www.dus.sua.ac.tz/. For both postgraduate and undergraduate students: 1 credit is equivalent to 10 course hours.

Students wishing to take taught courses at SUA in any of the respective semester and transfer credits are required to get a cover letter from University of Messina stating the need to transfer credit for the incoming candidate. The letter should be addressed to:

Students coming for research

Incoming research students to SUA will be regarded as Research Associates, and will not pay tuition fees.  In addition, research students will be required  to submit their research proposal for approval at SUA and the proposal is expected to include the following information: Date the applicant intends to commence and end the research work, description of research problem, objectives, methodology, expected outputs, and proposed study location(s) (If involve research activities outside the University). The researcher should show the source of funds to cover direct costs of research (expendable supplies, travel if applicable) depending on type of research.

Information of nominated students by the partner University should be submitted to: anatomy@sua.ac.tz.  It is recommended that, documents for incoming students should be received at least 3 months before the proposed research starting date to allow internal administrative processes.

Incoming Staff from UniMe to SUA

Information of Staff nominated by UniMe to visit SUA will be submitted to: anatomy@sua.ac.tz and copy to: colethamat@sua.ac.tz and should include: Curriculum Vitae in English and copy of Appropriate Staff mobility forms completed by the staff and submitted by the sending institution. Invitation letter will be provided to aid visa application (if required).

Information for accommodation and visa provided for guest students also applies to visiting staff.
