Dr. A. Lupindu is a quantitative epidemiologist at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). He completed a doctor of philosophy degree at Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2014. His Ph.D. in “Infection Risk Assessment” was conducted under a sandwich programme between SUA and University of Copenhagen. In 2006, he joined Wageningen University and Research Centre (in the Netherlands) at the Chair Group Quantitative Veterinary Epidemiology and graduated with an MSc Animal Sciences (Animal Health Management specialty) 2008. Dr Lupindu is a veterinarian by profession who completed a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine at Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania in 1999. He is a registered surgeon by the Veterinary Council of Tanzania (No. 623). In his early educational development, Dr. Lupindu attended Rungwe and Tosamaganga secondary schools for his ordinary and advanced secondary education respectively. Before joining Sokoine University of Agriculture, Dr. Lupindu worked as Veterinary Officer for Kyela and Mbeya District Councils and Mbeya City Council. Currently, his areas of working interest lie on animal and human health with focus on infection risk analysis, disease surveillance and intervention designs and application of quantitative epidemiological methods in health and production promotion. Besides, Dr Lupindu teaches different courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
