Dr. Ernatus Martin Mkupasi is a Senior Lecturer in Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health, College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA). Dr. Mkupasi graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at SUA in 2001 with a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and a Master of Veterinary Medicine (Public Health) in 2008. His doctoral thesis on the “Control of Taenia solium Cysticercosis in Pigs and Underlying Mechanisms for Host-parasite Interaction” was undertaken at the University of Copenhagen in Denmark (2010-2013). From 2002 to 2008, he worked as a Veterinary Instructor at Tengeru Livestock Training Institute under the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development, Tanzania, being responsible for teaching certificates and Diploma students and also farmers training on the prevention and control of livestock diseases and safe production of livestock products. He joined SUA in June 2008 as an academician in the rank of Tutorial Assistant in the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health. In 2009 he obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Health from Tampere University in Finland. From 2010 to 2013 he did a PhD on the control options of T. solium cysticercosis. He was promoted to Lecture in 2012 and to Senior Lecturer in 2018. Since 2018 he has been working as a Senior Lecturer in Veterinary Public Health at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
