Prof. H. Ngowi is an Associate Professor at the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Public Health, Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania. She specialises in veterinary-public health, majoring in health promotion. H Ngowi has worked extensively in health promotion approaches to the control of parasitic zoonoses, with particular focus on taeniasis and cysticercosis caused by the pork tapeworm, Taenia solium. She has also trained in qualitative research and has developed different health educational materials and tools. H Ngowi has participated in developing various international guidelines for disease control, including the (1) WHO Technical Report Series number 971 (WHO_TRS_971_eng.pdf) and (2) OIE Terrestrial Animal Health Code for “Infection with Taenia solium (Porcine Cysticercosis)” (Chapter 15.3. (woah.org)). To date, Prof H. Ngowi has published 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications, led six international grants, and coordinated two international networks. She has reviewed quite a number of scientific publications and international research grant applications. H. Ngowi welcomes collaborations in the areas of neglected tropical diseases, health promotion, and qualitative research.
