Dr. Alexanda Mzula is a Lecturer of Microbiology and Biotechnology. He has 16 years of research and teaching experience at Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania). He is doing research in antimicrobial resistance surveillance and antimicrobial resistance solutions through vaccinology (Animal Vaccine Development). He is currently a collaborating researcher in a project titled “Mitigating the spread of antimicrobial residues and resistant microbes through treatment of poultry manure” and “Optimizing Vaccination and Biosecurity Regimes to Enhance Fight Against Antimicrobial Resistance in Commercial Poultry Production in Tanzania” both funded by the International Centre for Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS). He is also one of the implementers of AMR surveillance for zoonotic pathogens in dairy cattle and poultry through Fleming Fund Country Grant in Tanzania. Dr. Alexanda is also a PI of two projects titled; “Full development of a novel thermo-attenuated vaccine against Aeromonas hydrophila: towards improving tilapia production in Tanzania” awarded by COSTECH and “Development of a novel commercial bivalent vaccine candidate against Mycoplasma capricolum subsp. capripneumoniae and Pasteurella multocida for control of Contagious Caprine Pleuropneumonia and Pasteurella multocida pneumonia in goat” awarded by Sokoine University of Agriculture
