Isaac Makundi graduated from the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine in 2007 and MSc. in Applied Microbiology in 2012 at the Sokoine University of Agriculture. His doctoral thesis on the ‘Molecular Characterization and Transmission Dynamics of Animal Viruses in Tsushima leopard cat (Prionailurus bengalensis euptilurus) with special reference to Feline leukemia virus and Felis catus gammaherpesvirus 1’ undertaken at the Yamaguchi University, Japan (2015–2019). From 2007 to 2008 he volunteered as a Veterinarian at the OLEM Veterinary Centre in Dar-Es-Salaam. From 2008 to 2009 he was employed as a Veterinary Officer at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries Development under the Veterinary Investigation Centre, Mwanza. From 2011 to 2012 he worked as Tutorial Assistant and then as an Assistant Lecturer from 2012, and since 2019 he has been working as a Lecturer at the Sokoine University of Agriculture.
