The College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences congratulates Dr Frida Mgonja, from the Department of Veterinary Physiology, Biochemistry and Pharmacology for successfully accomplishing the learning and practice conducted at the Iowa State University, USA. |

Dr Frida, who is a lecturer in Pharmacology at the department, is a beneficiary in the Faculty Exchange Program for the 2019 round. |

She spent about 14 weeks in USA at the College of Veterinary Medicine of the ISU, the nation’s most student-centred public research university. Iowa State University of Science and Technology (Iowa State) is a public land-grant and space-grant research university in Ames, Iowa. |

Dr Frida, together with other activities, spent most of her time in Microbiology Laboratory of the ISU, under close supervision of Dr Paul Plummer. She was involved in an intensive project on screening of antimicrobial resistance and Campylobacter spp obtained in faecal samples from a local zoo. |

In additional to the laboratory work, she attended lectures and tutorials of Pharmacology and Toxicology to improve her teaching capacity. She also attended lectures on Teaching and learning in Veterinary Medical Education and Journal sessions. In improving her writing skills, she attended seminars on manuscript writing and succeeded to write and submit a grant application proposal as a result. |

The College of Veterinary Medicine is proud of the successful participation of Dr Frida to the exchange from the program, and is looking forward to benefit from her improved capacities as has been for the former beneficiaries of the same program. In previous years, a number of College faculties have attended the same program including Dr Erick Komba, Dr Athumani Lupindu, Dr Aloyce Bunyaga and Dr John Julius. |
