Richard J. Samson graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the Sokoine University of Agriculture in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 he worked as an intern at the Geita School of Nursing in Mwanza, Tanzania, Teaching Physiology and microbiology courses to nursing students. He came to the Sokoine University of Agriculture in June 2014 to work as a Tutorial Assistant in Veterinary Surgery. From 2017 to 2020 he did an MSc. on the occurrences of musculoskeletal problems in Working equines. Since 2023 he has been working (first as a Doctoral (PhD) student and then as an Assistant Lecturer in Veterinary surgery at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences; and from 2018 to date he has also been a Core Program lead for the Tanzania Partnership Program (TPP) and University Federation for Animal Welfare (UFAW)
